Review friv game of My Friend Peppa Pig – How a wolf made friends with a pig
In October, two games from an online game developer Friv2Online Games Studio were released claiming GOTY status: we talked about Guardians of the Galaxy a little earlier, but now it's time to get acquainted with My Friend Peppa Pig. We tell you what real friendship looks like in the review.
Perhaps Peppa Pig needs no introduction: the animated show about her adventures has won the hearts of young and adult gamers. It's amazing that a "big" game based on it has just come out. Well, better late than never.
So, in My Friend Peppa Pig, we, as a newcomer, arrive in the city, and immediately get acquainted with Peppa, who calls our character her friend. By the way, you can create a hero yourself by choosing from prepared templates. In my case, it was an intelligent wolf in glasses, which, however, sometimes gave vent to animal instincts, releasing an extended “AUUUUF” into the sky. I hope that the manifestation of his bestial essence was limited to this, and he secretly did not dream of having dinner with his girlfriend and her family.
On the other hand, Peppa cannot be called an icon of integrity. I was outraged by the ease with which she sometimes simply ignored her friend and even appropriated his merits! For example, in the episode on the beach, she announced that she had found a coin that was actually fished out of a puddle by my wolf cub. Grandfather and grandmother Pig, who stood nearby and saw this, did not react to the injustice in any way, thus encouraging the frankly swine behavior of their granddaughter.
However, other scenes show that Peppa Pig still appreciates friendship: for example, she hung a drawing in her room by the authorship of my character, and in joint friv games, it seems, she sincerely had fun.
Surprisingly, Peppa's parents and other adults calmly accepted the fact that the girl had a nameless friend. No one asked where the wolf cub lives and whether he has relatives. Strange irresponsibility. However, it is worth giving them their due: the wolf cub was accepted as one of their own, shared a table, shelter and entertainment with him, and laughed until they dropped at his jokes.
But not the plot alone is good My Friend Peppa Pig. The friv game looks exactly like the original animated series, and it's impressive how well the developers have translated the world of the show into a video game format. Not everyone succeeded in this - remember at least frankly weak games on Adventure Time or The Simpsons.
Familiar locations are waiting for you, including Peppa's house, her grandparents' house, a kindergarten, a museum, a forest, a snowy mountain, a beach, a wind tower and the city of Potatoes. Interestingly, some places can be reached in different ways, and one adventure flows into another. For example, when we went to the beach with grandparents, the parents and brother of Peppa Pig soon arrived there, and the heroes continued to relax with them.
Impressions from colorful levels are spoiled by non-skippable screensavers that start every time you visit. My personal anti-award is given to Mr. Bull and Mr. Rhino, who are always repairing the road: 8 out of 10 trips (in the friv game you can personally drive a car and a school bus, even if they move strictly in a straight line) were interrupted by a meeting with them, and this scenario makes absolutely no sense for the story bears.
In addition, I would like a greater variety of friv game mechanics. My Friend Peppa Pig uses exactly three buttons: two for movement and one for action. There are few interesting mini-games, my favorite among them is jumping in a puddle. Outside of quests, there is no need to study locations, and they are compact - there is nowhere to turn around.
And if without irony, then My Friend Peppa Pig is a great friv game for preschool children: kind, colorful and positive. She will not become the game of the year, but for the audience of Peppa Pig fans this is the best gift.
